We look at who might be missing for Kieran McKenna’s team ahead of their match against the Tigers. Ipswich Town will try to extend their unbeaten streak against Hull City this evening. The Tractor Boys have been nothing short of spectacular this season, with their solitary setback coming in a 4-3 loss to Leeds United. Given that the Whites were only recently relegated from the Premier League, Ipswich should not be too hard on themselves and should instead focus on the positives.
They will be upbeat going into this match, not only because of their overall results, but also because they managed to score a late equalizer against Huddersfield.
On paper, a 1-1 draw at the John Smith’s Stadium isn’t their best result of the season, but the point they earned against West Yorkshire could be key in their bid for back-to-back promotions.
They will face a stiff test tonight as Hull travel to Suffolk in search of three points after showing promise early in the season.
We take a look at the Tractor Boys’ missing players before of this match.
Which Ipswich Town players might be unavailable for the Hull City game?
Kieran McKenna’s “main” concern ahead of this match is Lee Evans, who was forced off with a knee injury against Huddersfield at the weekend.
Given that he underwent a scan yesterday, it appears that he will miss this game.
Nathan Broadhead, who missed the Tractor Boys’ meeting against the Terriers due to a thigh injury, is another likely absentee for the Tractor Boys.
Meanwhile, Christian Walton and Axel Tuanzebe are nearing full fitness, but McKenna has still to decide if they are ready to be included in the matchday squad.
Which Ipswich Town players are likely to start against Hull City?
Vaclav Hladky will feel as though he deserves to start between the sticks again and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him retain his place, with Leif Davis, Cameron Burgess, Luke Woolfenden and Harry Clarke in front of the shot-stopper. However, Brandon Williams will be pushing for a start and he could potentially come in on either side.
The fact the Tractor Boys had Davis available at the John Smith’s Stadium was a real positive for them, but it remains to be seen whether they are keen to start him again.
With Evans likely to be out, that provides the perfect opportunity for Sam Morsy to return from his suspension and partner Massimo Luongo in the middle of the park.
And with Broadhead also a doubt, Omari Hutchinson could potentially continue on the left-hand side along with Conor Chaplin and Wes Burns.
Chaplin as a number 10 is a tremendous weapon for Ipswich since he can be such a valuable asset in the final third when on form.
George Hirst started at Huddersfield and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him start again, however Freddie Ladapo will be vying for a starting berth.
There is now just room for one player up front.
