After getting bids during the current transfer window, a target for Aston Villa made hints that he would consider moving to the Premier League next summer.
This summer, Aston Villa was one of the busiest teams in the Premier League. They sold major names like Douglas Luiz to Juventus and Moussa Diaby to Saudi Arabia in addition to adding players like Ross Barkley and Amadou Onana to their squad.
It’s possible that Unai Emery was hoping for more to come in, as one target—worth £50 million—admitted to having bids from elite teams to transfer to England.
Jonathan David, an Aston Villa target, makes a Premier League offer.
A number of teams were interested in signing Lille striker Jonathan David to a summer transfer, including Villa and Chelsea.
Only Kylian Mbappe scored more goals in Ligue 1 last season than David, who finished with 19 goals in 34 appearances.
With 29 goals from 55 appearances, the forward recently broke the record for most goals scored by Canada, and his goal-scoring prowess garnered media attention around Europe.
The 24-year-old has scored more goals in every season since 2018; David acknowledged that he received many proposals this summer.
“There were a couple of offers and we just didn’t finish the deal,” he said in an interview with The Athletic. I had conversations with two teams. I talked to the coaches, but in the end, I decided to stay.
Despite significant European interest, the Aston Villa target may remain at the club.
Many teams will be interested in signing David on a free transfer when his current contract expires at the end of this season, but there’s a good chance he’ll decide to sign a new contract with Lille.
I have one year left on my contract. My contract will eventually expire. Then, we’ll see. We’ll see what occurs the following year,” he said.
David is interested in other leagues besides the Premier League and intends to remain flexible.
“Anything goes,” declared the 24-year-old.
It goes without saying that the Premier League is thought to be among the greatest leagues in the world. And it’s not the Premier League or nothing at all for me. There are hurdles in every level, but I’m open to everything.
