BREAKING NEWS : Connecticut man arrested in Marshall County

WAFF – MARSHALL CO., Ala. On Tuesday night, a man from Connecticut was taken into custody in Marshall County. According to authorities, he was traveling the nation using counterfeit money.

Tuesday night at 11:30 p.m., Stephen Gary was checked into the Marshall County Jail.

The use of counterfeit money at a Walmart prompted the Guntersville Police Department to launch an investigation, according to them. Police said Gary was interviewed and taken into custody.

Following his arrest, investigators claimed to have learned that he was under investigation in a number of other jurisdictions, including Maine, Florida, and Georgia. They claimed it’s unclear if all of the reported thefts took place exclusively at Walmart stores.

Since Boaz City also has a Walmart, Guntersville Police and Boaz City Police are now cooperating. According to investigators, Gary is not associated with any crimes in

Boaz right now.

Gary faces accusations of both possessing a fake instrument and retail theft. On a $145,000 bond, he is still being held at the Marshall County Jail.
