George Dobson has been examining why Wrexham have been so successful at home.
The Red Dragons’ climb up the English football ladder has been nothing short of remarkable.Since Hollywood duo Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds took over the club in February 2021, Wrexham have ended their 15-year stay in the National League and advanced to League One in just a few seasons.
The large investment made by its American owners, as well as Phil Parkinson’s exceptional management, have both contributed significantly to their spectacular growth.
However, as with any football club, the value of a strong home record cannot and should not be overlooked.
Wrexham suffered their first League One defeat of the 2024/25 season on Monday, falling 3-1 to Birmingham City.
However, that match was played at St Andrew’s, and the Welsh team’s outstanding home record remained intact. George Dobson names the key to Wrexham’s prosperity.
In fact, the club’s home record is so strong that they outperform two of the country’s top clubs in a vital statistic.
Wrexham conceded less home goals than Arsenal and Manchester City in 2024, with only seven in all domestic competitions this season.
Meanwhile, Manchester City has conceded nine goals, while Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal has also conceded nine at the Emirates.
According to Leader Live, George Dobson believes Wrexham’s support is a crucial factor for their success at home.
He said, “It has truly been fantastic. We’ve had a great start at home. If you want to be successful, you need good home support, and they make a big difference.
“We know how strong we can be at home, and we’ve started well, but we’re not getting ahead of ourselves.

Parkinson will be hoping his team can rebound on Saturday after suffering their first loss of the season on Monday evening.
On Saturday, September 21st, at 3pm BST, Wrexham host Crawley Town.

I have a game in hand. As a result, Wrexham cannot afford to surrender any points against Crawley, who are 13th in the standings after five games.
On paper, Wrexham are quite likely to win this weekend. This season, the club has won all three of their home games convincingly, and they have not conceded since the opening weekend against Wycombe Wanderers.
A similar result is expected on Saturday, with Parkinson and his team set to blast a few past Crawley without reply.
