West Brom manager Carlos Corberan has confirmed that Jayson Molomby has suffered a calf injury and will be sidelined for the next seven to ten days.
West Brom left the midfielder out of their squad for the weekend’s game against Plymouth Argyle. They went on to win 1-0 at The Hawthorns, with striker Josh Maja scoring. Molomby, 25, will now miss the journey to Hillsborough on Saturday as they prepare to face Sheffield Wednesday. The Baggies have made a solid start to the new season, and they currently lead the Championship standings ahead of Sunderland.

According to the Express and Star, Corberan stated in the most recent update: “Fortunately, the injury is minor. He suffered in the calf.

He had a grade one B injury in the last week that will keep him out of the team for seven to ten days, so we’ll see how he recovers. West Brom’s selection update
Molomby’s absence is a minor setback for West Brom, as he is an important player in the middle of the park.

They are not taking any risks with him, which is understandable, and will only let him back in when he is fully prepared. West Brom signed the Republic of Ireland international, who has 26 caps, on loan in 2021 before making the move permanent.

He is out of contract in June 2025, and they need to make a choice about his long-term future.

If the Baggies do not sign him to a contract renewal soon, they risk losing him for free next year.

Molomby has since made 76 appearances across all competitions, scoring five goals. Prior to joining his current club, he spent seven years on the books with Brighton and Hove Albion, having joined as a youngster.

The Cappoquin-born player went on to make five appearances for the Seagulls’ first team, as well as loan spells at Millwall and Preston North End to gain more experience.
