BREAKING NEWS : Alex Iwobi edges closer to Kanu Nwankwo’s record in Fulham’s win vs Newcastle

After a brilliant performance in Fulham’s 3-1 victory against Newcastle at Craven Cottage, Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi is getting closer to matching Kanu Nwankwo’s Premier League assist record, according to Soccernet.ng news.

Iwobi, who made his 31st Premier League assist, was instrumental in the victory, setting up new recruit Emile Smith Rowe for a wonderful assist.

With 33 assists, the famous Kanu, who was a pivotal player for Arsenal FC during his stay in England, is now just two assists behind the Nigerian international.

After playing for West Bromwich Albion, Portsmouth, and Arsenal, Kanu left his impact in the Premier League. In more than 270 appearances during his career, he scored 54 goals and provided 33 assists.

In addition, Kanu played a key role in Arsenal’s illustrious “Invincibles” team, which went undefeated in the 2003–04 campaign and helped the Gunners win two FA Cups and two Premier League crowns.

Iwobi has developed into a flexible playmaker. Like Kanu, he started his Premier League career at Arsenal. His recent move to Fulham, under manager Marco Silva, has revived his form after a spell at Everton.

Iwobi, much to the pleasure of supporters, celebrated Fulham’s victory over Newcastle by indulging in a traditional Nigerian dinner of semo and egusi and documenting his post-match recuperation on social media.
