Together, the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation and Chevron will award grants totaling $50,000 to Midland and Odessa local organizations that assist the community’s youngsters.
Five area organizations received money from the Chevron/Texas Rangers Community Grant Program’s inaugural grant cycle to support their programming that benefits children.
The first grant cycle was chosen for Casa de Amigos, First Tee-West Texas, Midland Junior Baseball, the Society of Professional Engineers’ Permian Basin Section, and the Young Women’s Leadership Academy (YWLA) of Midland. The recipients received their awards with a check presentation on Saturday, September 21, prior to the Rangers-Mariners game.
“We are honored to collaborate with Chevron to positively impact the Midland-Odessa area through this inaugural grant program,” stated Karin Morris, executive director of the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation and senior vice president of community impact. “This is an exciting new direction for our support of neighborhood organizations, and we’re happy to see the community benefiting from these grants.”

Only qualified groups in the Midland-Odessa region that provided programming, such as instructional curricula, after-school activities, or youth sports, for children ages 18 and younger were granted grants.
Nicole Barber, public and government affairs manager for Chevron’s Mid-Continent business unit, stated, “Chevron proudly supports nonprofit organizations and schools that are empowering youth in the communities where we operate.” It is a privilege to collaborate with the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation to increase youth assistance in West Texas via this new grant initiative. To each and every grant recipient, congratulations.
The grant money will be used by Casa de Amigos to fund STEM/STEAM youth education initiatives.
The money from First Tee West Texas will go toward youth initiatives.
Midland Junior Baseball intends to renovate its playing surface and use the proceeds for their young activities.
The Permian Basin Section of the Society of Professional Engineers will use the cash to support local STEM educators in educating their students.
