Notre Dame has had only two NBA representatives in recent years: Pat Connaughton and Blake Wesley. However, we now have the opportunity of adding a third name to that list for the 2024-25 season.
Dane Goodwin, who played 14 games with the Sacramento Kings’ G-League club in Stockton last season and two games with the Kings in this year’s Summer League, has signed with the Utah Jazz. This announcement came two days before the Jazz were scheduled to begin training camp.
Goodwin’s deal is most likely intended to provide the Jazz with enough players to examine throughout camp and, maybe, preseason games. For better or worse, Goodwin hasn’t had a significant effect in his professional career thus far. However, his deal with the Jazz should signal that he will begin the season in the G-League.
Here’s hope Goodwin performs well enough to make playing in the NBA a realistic option.
