LeBron James made a humorous dig at his kid Bronny after stories surfaced of him scoring a layup against him during Lakers practice.
LeBron James took to Instagram to respond to allegations that he scored a layup against Bronny James, followed by some trash talk. James made a post on his account that included the tidbit revealed by Lakers GM Rob Pelinka, and he joked that while his son was playing excellent defense against him, he was able to adapt and play even better offensive.
If the tale about James taking it to his son during Lakers practice is true, it’s a long cry from James’ first practice session with Bronny, when he admitted to losing focus while watching his son on the field with the rest of the squad.
LeBron James and Bronny will begin their season preparations with the Los Angeles Lakers soon. The Lakers’ training camp will begin in the following weeks, followed by some pre-season games before the NBA season begins, with the Lakers against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
There has been considerable conjecture that Bronny James may play on the Lakers’ opening night so that he and LeBron
may share the court before Bronny is moved down to the South Bay Lakers to begin his proper development in the G-League moving forward.
How will Bronny James adjust to the NBA?
Lakers head coach JJ Redick commented about Bronny James before of the 2017 NBA season, stating that he and the Lakers coaching staff have a complete strategy for Bronny’s development in the coming season, and they hope that he can adapt to the plan well in the future.
Bronny James, a second-round draft pick, is best suited for the G-League because he has not completely developed as a basketball player and will benefit from the opportunity to play consistent minutes at a lower level. Furthermore, he is not yet at the level to play more minutes than the rest of the Lakers’ squad.
While Bronny’s move to the G-League right now indicates that he isn’t ready for the NBA, he may always improve and have additional opportunities to play in the NBA. If James can rapidly improve and make it to the NBA, he might be a tremendous asset to the Lakers or any other NBA team he represents in the future.
Udonis Haslem, a former teammate of LeBron James, believes that with the appropriate development plan and time, Bronny has the potential to become an NBA impact player similar to Jrue Holiday.
