Documents released on Tuesday indicate that Baltimore County police have “suspended” their domestic violence investigation into Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers without filing charges. If new information becomes available, the investigation may be reopened. The incident is believed to have occurred in Owings Mills, Maryland, on January 21. The documents corroborate what The Baltimore Sun previously reported about an alleged victim who reported, via Acton, Massachusetts, that there had been a “violent domestic incident” on January 16 in which the “suspect’s brother also drew a firearm.
Besides stating that he is a “NFL player” and that they are “all over social media,” they declined to reveal the suspect’s identity.
Acton Police noted down their suspicions about the culprit. The report has censored that name.
The Baltimore County court report states that on January 30, police called the accused victim regarding the Massachusetts complaint she had filed. She did not “disclose any further details relating to the original report,” according to reports, and she stated that there were “no further issues.”
Police say they tried to get in touch with Flowers’ lawyer, but some information in the documents has been withheld. They were informed by
Flowers “would not avail himself at this time in reference to this report,” the lawyer informed the investigator, and on February 16 the probe was put on hold.
The NFL declared last week that it was only “early stages” into its investigation. Even though Flowers is not currently facing any criminal charges, the results of the league’s investigation might nonetheless result in a paid suspension for him.
With six touchdowns overall and team records for a rookie in 858 receiving yards and 77 catches, Flowers wrapped up his first NFL season.
