BREAKING NEWS : Carlos Sainz’s father has expressed his “respect” for his son’s decision

Carlos Sainz’s father has expressed “respect” for his son’s choice to join with Williams for the 2025 season, despite declining offers from Audi and Alpine.
Williams team manager James Vowles recently claimed that he isn’t disturbed by Sainz’s statements about perhaps returning to Ferrari in the future, recognizing that Williams is now a smaller and less competitive squad.

“Carlos comes with not only the ability to drive the car quickly, but also the ability to lead the team forward,” he told Marca. “Today, I need people around me who understand what excellence looks like. And that is difficult to discover on the grid.

Both Vowles and Sainz believe Williams is a team with a promising future.

Sainz has decided to accept this challenge rather than pursue a spot with a works team such as Audi or Alpine.

When asked about his son’s decision, Carlos Sainz Sr. responded: “Well, I was always by his side in this.” “This year has been difficult for him, since even before the season began, the (Lewis) Hamilton to Ferrari narrative surfaced. As a father, both my nephew and I assisted Carlos in considering all of his alternatives. My role has not altered.”

However, earlier this year, Sainz Sr., who has a history with Audi from the Dakar rally, indicated publicly that his son should seriously consider joining Audi’s new F1 project.

“We have to respect it,” Sainz Sr. stated. “The decision was neither easy nor clear.

“There were three or four possibilities, and in the end, he had to make his own decision about his future, and we supported him to the fullest extent possible. And that’s what we did.”

“Williams is an upcoming project. At the end of this season, things began to improve, and we have to hope and believe that this upward trend will continue the following year,” he said.

Sainz Sr., a two-time world rally champion, feels his son will play an important part in propelling Williams forward.

“Carlos has left a good impression at all of the teams he has been with, with his work and his know-how,” Sainz, Jr., stated.

“The teams have improved since he arrived, which is essential for a professional and should always be expected of him. In this regard, I believe Carlos is a serious driver who knows exactly where he is heading,” Sainz Sr. added.
