Wolverhampton Wanderers are seeking to jump ahead of the competition by contacting a January transfer target, according to a fresh report.

Wolves have only two points from nine games, and while they have done pretty well offensively, their tendency of leaking goals is dragging them down significantly. The Old Gold have conceded 25 goals in the Premier League, the most of any team. Injuries haven’t helped O’Neil, and his backline is constantly changing, so it’s no wonder that they’ve been connected with a defender. Wolves have dispatched scouts to study young defender Nathan Zeze as they want to buy him from Nantes in 2025. However, they are not the only team interested in the 19-year-old; Aston Villa is also thought to be interested. In addition to strengthening their defense, O’Neil and Wolves want to increase their offensive firepower. The Midlands club has identified Watford’s Giorgi Chakvetadze as a major transfer target for January. Club scouts have attended recent Watford games to observe the player, and he has now been “shortlisted” as a player to buy.

According to Africa Foot, as supplied by Sport Witness, Wolves have identified Toulouse winger Zakaria Aboukhlal as a January target. The 24-year-old has been with the French side since July 2022, when he signed from Dutch club AZ Alkmaar.
Aboukhlal began his career at Willem II and, after progressing through the age levels, joined PSV’s under-19 team in 2017. He advanced to their under-21s, and in 2019, AZ opted to sign him, and he went on to play 90 games for them across all competitions.
The 24-year-old has been excelling in France with Toulouse, and according to this story, Wolves have “established contact in recent hours” to persuade the attacker to relocate to England in January. It goes on to say that the Premier League club is looking to sign Aboukhlal on a loan with the option to buy, but no figures have been mentioned as of yet.
Talks between the parties have begun, however it is unclear whether they are Wolves and the players’ agents, the two clubs, or both. In any case, Wolves appear to be interested in signing the winger in January, who has 21 goals for the French side, bringing his total for club and nation to 36.
