The Football Association has issued a three-match ban to Watford player Moussa Sissoko for violent misbehavior.
Sissoko’s complaint stems from an incident in the 21st minute of Watford’s 1-0 win over Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, October 26.
According to an FA spokesperson, referee Darren England did not see the incident during the match and hence could not include it directly in his subsequent match report.
However, after reviewing the alleged incident, which was captured on film, the former France international was found guilty of allegedly headbutting Rovers captain Lewis Travis, who informed the referee at the time.
The 35-year-old has been dismissed three times in his career, including twice for Newcastle United during the 2014-15 season.
Sissoko’s punishment means he will miss Watford’s travel to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, as well as their meeting at Swansea City on Tuesday and their home game against Oxford United next Friday.
