BREAKING NEWS : Sheffield Wednesday’s Manager, is leaving the club to join the Professional Game Academy

Steve Haslam, Sheffield Wednesday’s Academy Manager, is leaving the club after nearly 20 years to join the Professional Game Academy Audit Company (PGAAC).

The former defender, 45, began his playing career at Hillsborough and captained England’s schoolboys. He went on to make over 100 appearances for the Owls before rejoining the club in September 2005 as a part-time Academy coach.

Before being appointed Academy Manager in 2017, Haslam served as the Owls’ Lead Professional Development Phase Coach and Head of Academy Coaching. Haslam told the Wednesday official website, “As a lifelong Sheffield Wednesday fan, I have been both honoured and proud to represent the club as a player, Academy coach, and, for the last seven-and-a-half years, Academy Manager.”

“I have many people to thank for their encouragement and hard work, from the chairman to all of the employees with whom I have had such a good relationship. It has been a difficult decision to make because I have developed excellent relationships with everyone involved in the club and community.

“We have some excellent talent developing through the Academy age groups, but I believe the time is right to take on a new challenge in my career. I wish everyone linked to Wednesday a. “A successful season and best wishes for the future.” Category Two Wednesday was ranked 52nd in TGG’s Academy Productivity Rankings for 2023/24, down 10 places from 42nd in 2021/22.
