JUST IN : Huddersfield Town has make move to sign 22 years old premier league striker this summer

Huddersfield Town are anxious for a quality striker to bolster their promotion campaign, and work must be done to sign Luton Town’s Joe Taylor ahead of the January window while he fights for minutes at Kenilworth Road.

The Terriers are still in the running for automatic promotion back to the Championship ahead of a tough winter calendar, but they must look ahead to the new year for new faces to maintain their challenge for the top two and solidify their position in the League One top six.

Michael Duff has had his detractors in the early stages of his stint at the John Smith’s Stadium, but needs more support from the club’s owners in January.

Huddersfield have conceded only 15 goals in their first 15 league games, giving them the third-best defensive record in the third tier right now, but up front has been a different story, as their rather decent pool of strikers has all struggled to score.

Freddie Ladapo and Danny Ward have yet to score in league games, while Josh Koroma, a winger by trade, has been forced to play out of position in a front two due to a lack of offensive firepower.

Duff needs a new striker in the new year, and who better than Luton’s Joe Taylor. The Terriers were previously connected with him in the summer but failed to complete a

Deal with the Hatters. Taylor is not getting the game time he desires in the Championship under Rob Edwards, so Huddersfield should strike while the iron is hot and do the footwork for a deal now, in anticipation of it being confirmed and him being ready to play in early January.

Joe Taylor is a top striker at league one level. Taylor would be an excellent addition to the Terriers’ lacklustre attacking threat. He is best known among football fans for helping Luton to promotion to the Premier League in 2023 by scoring a penalty in the play-off final, and he shone on loan at both Colchester United and Lincoln City last season.

The 21-year-old scored 11 goals in 25 League Two games with the U’s in the first half of the season before being recalled to Sincil Bank, where he scored 10 times in 19 appearances and was named League One Player of the Month and EFL Young Player of the Month for March 2024, as Lincoln narrowly missed out on a play-off spot at the end of the campaign. The 22-year-old is undoubtedly a fantastic talent and a prolific scorer in League One, so signing him seems like a no-brainer for Huddersfield, especially given his lack of opportunities in the Championship this season.

While Luton have not enjoyed their homecomingHuddersfield Town should do legwork for Luton Town, Joe Taylor deal in December

Taylor has struggled for minutes ahead of Jacob Brown, Carlton Morris, Elijah Adebayo, and Cauley Woodrow, despite being promoted to the second tier as intended. He has yet to start a game for the Hatters this season and has only appeared off the bench seven times in the Championship, totaling 83 minutes on the pitch.

It is evident that he will be looking for a swift exit in the new year, and Huddersfield must be at the top of the list for his signing, just as they were until late in the summer window.

Huddersfield must rekindle their interest in Taylor ahead of January.

Taylor was linked with a number of League One clubs during the last transfer window ahead of this season, and transfer journalist Alan Nixon initially reported on Huddersfield’s interest in him in July, when they were named as one of the clubs vying for his signing.

The Terriers bolstered their attacking depth in August when 19-year-old forward Callum Marshall joined on loan from West Ham United, but they were not finished with Taylor, as Nixon revealed that they were close to sealing a deal but were being held up by Luton as they sought a replacement.

The window remained open, and it was just days before the deadline that Nixon announced Taylor’s relocation to.

The John Smith’s Stadium was in limbo, despite him meeting with the Terriers to negotiate a loan with a view to a full-time move, because Luton had called him back after the conversations while they waited to make a decision. Rob Edwards appears to have never got the striker he wanted at the end of the window, so Taylor’s Huddersfield move never materialized, but Nixon revealed new hope for a January switch in September, claiming that the Terriers are confident of sealing a £2 million deal for Taylor on the second attempt and hope to agree a deal for January.

Taylor has not appeared in any of Luton’s previous five Championship games, and Huddersfield In desperate need of a striker in January, they must approach the Hatters before the January window opens and work out a deal in the coming weeks so he can start at the John Smith’s Stadium as soon as possible.
