Bradley Pinion and his wife created the ‘Punts for Purpose’ campaign last season. Bradley Pinion, the Atlanta Falcons punter, is having an impact both on and off the field this season.
The veteran NFL athlete is tuned in as the Falcons attempt to maintain first place in the NFC South and earn their first division title in over a decade as the regular season comes to a close. However, Pinion is hopeful that his football skills can aid achieve another key goal. Last season, Pinion, 30, and his wife Kaeleigh launched the “Punts for Purpose” program, which aims to improve the lives of mothers and babies living in extreme poverty in developing countries.
They’ve joined with Compassion International on an initiative dubbed “The Fight for First,” which aims to open 500 survival centers and raise $7.5 million by the end of the year. Pinion and his wife will donate $1,000 for each punt that lands within 20 yards this season.
“The partnership with Compassion is one that is very close to my and my wife’s hearts,” he told Fox News Digital in an interview this week. “It’s a partnership that began maybe two or three years ago. One thing we liked about compassion was that their tagline is ‘In Jesus Name.’ And my wife and I are strong believers, and we conduct our lives by faith.
And finding an organization that lives its existence and mission through faith was really essential to us.” Pinion initiated the program last season, stating that he didn’t expect much of a response from the league’s punters because it was “last minute.” To his astonishment, about half of the league’s punters participated, raising a total of approximately $150,000. “It was kind of last minute, and we had 14 guys, basically almost half the NFL punters, do it for at least one week of their season, and it was super, super rewarding and super humbling to see guys going alongside of a cause so near and dear to us.”
Pinion’s team acknowledged his work and nominated him. is the Falcons’ 2023 Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee. Humbled by the honor, Pinion told Fox News Digital that he considers his football skills to be a gift that has allowed him to make a difference. “It is simply a result of what I am actually enthusiastic about. I love football, and it pays the bills, pays well, and provides me with a fortunate life. But the platform that football has provided for my family is unlike anything else. I feel that my duty is to use that platform to serve Christ, Jesus, and people in need — people in poverty, whether it be animals, whether they are humans, children, or whatever. I firmly believe that is why I was given these gifts, and the platform that I’ve been given allows me to do so. “The Fight for First” campaign has already raised over $6.8 million and financed 455 facilities. These centers offer prenatal care, nutritional meals and clean water, labor and delivery help, medical treatment, medication access, and other services.
