JUST IN : How Season of Bears’ Near Misses Has Affected Caleb Williams

Analysis: The Bears have battled every NFC North opponent tough and fell to the Commanders on a Hail Mary, but does it suggest they’re close or simply adept at losing? With the Bears’ position looking bad right now and all of the names being thrown around for head coach by those who have no idea who would genuinely interest the team in the offseason, Caleb Williams stepped up and reminded everyone of one thing.

The Bears are not your typical 4-8 rebuilding squad.

Their NFC North opponents can enjoy their 2024 postseason run, but the Bears may soon be competing for division crowns and/or playoff positions. At least that’s how the Bears saw their tight losses.

“I mean, I guess you can look at all these games that we’re on a six-game losing streak now and you look at all these games and the past three weeks we’ve played Detroit, Green Bay and Minnesota and we’ve been right there with them—offense, defense, special teams, whatever.”We have been right there with them. And those have been the best clubs in the league thus far.”

A blocked kick separated the Bears from victory over Green Bay, a miraculous comeback against Minnesota ended in OT defeat, and a last-second catastrophe in Detroit resulted in a 23-20 loss, prompting Matt Eberflus’ firing.

The Bears would want to believe it was Eberflus holding them back. They will find out starting this week.Is Matt Eberflus At Fault For Caleb Williams, Chicago Bears Failures?

Chicago dismissed Eberflus only 12 games into Williams’ debut season. Bears quarterback Caleb Williams spoke with the media for the first time since his team fired head coach Matt Eberflus last Friday, providing a thorough—and honest—explanation of the unpleasant realities of being an NFL head coach.

“It’s interesting,” he said when questioned about Chicago’s decision to fire Eberflus following a 4-8 start to the season. “I didn’t—I don’t have any say or choice in that. I have to roll with the punches. It’s interesting, it’s challenging… He’s the reason why I’m here. He drafted me. So going through that and that process is interesting for me.”

“That’s a man with a family,” Williams explained. “A man was sacked. There is a human aspect to it—and a business part to it—that you must grasp and, as I previously stated, roll with the punches from there.

Like I mentioned, a hard truth.

The Bears will now proceed with Thomas Brown at the helm in the interim before starting a search for a reported “leader of men” sort of head coach in 2025.

Chicago travels to San Francisco this Sunday for a 4:25 p.m. EST game against the 49ers. They’ll aim to snap a six-game losing run.
