The NFL did not flex the Packers’ Week 17 meeting against the Minnesota Vikings. The Green Bay Packers are 10-4 as we enter Week 16. The Packers have won four out of their last five games, including a 30-13 victory over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday Night Football.
Green Bay is preparing for their fourth consecutive primetime game against the New Orleans Saints, but the NFL made an unexpected decision regarding their Week 17 matchup with the Minnesota Vikings.
Packers News: Packers vs. Vikings Stays in the Opening Window for Week 17.
According to Andy Herman of Packer Report, Green Bay and Minnesota will continue to play at noon CST in week 17. This is somewhat surprising given that both sides are currently playing terrific football.
The NFL announced that the Miami Dolphins and Cleveland Browns would be relocated from Sunday Night Football to make way for the Washington Commanders (9-5) and Atlanta Falcons (7-7). The change makes sense, given that the Commanders have yet to play on SNF this season. They have a rookie sensation in Jayden Daniels at quarterback and are in the middle of the postseason chase.
The league also decided to shift the game between the Los Angeles Chargers (8-6) and the New England Patriots (3-11) to December 28. The Patriots are not expected to make the playoffs. Despite a heartbreaking 40-17 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 15, the Chargers remain in the AFC playoff race.
The Packers and Vikings (12-2) are competing for seeding in a crowded NFC. Minnesota and Detroit have 12-2 records, with Green Bay two games behind.
The Week 17 game between these teams will be tough, as divisional battles always are. In Week 4, the Vikings defeated Green Bay 31-29. The Packers will be more motivated to get retribution on a division foe.
