“Priority has to be” – Cardiff City, Vincent Tan sent clear transfer message ahead of January

Cardiff City will want to avoid glancing at the Championship standings, as Omer Riza’s side is now ranked 21st.

This season, they have only four victories from 20 games and have recently lost critical games to Preston North End and Queens Park Rangers.

Looking ahead to the weekend, they have a battle against league leaders Sheffield United, which will make it difficult to earn any points.

Clearly, improvements are required across the board, and with the January transfer market just a few weeks away, Cardiff must make some moves this window if they are to escape relegation and retain their Championship status.

Cardiff are advised to sign a new striker.

Football League World questioned their resident Cardiff fan pundit, Jack Price, on where he thought the Bluebirds’ priority should be this window and why it is critical they target that position.

He stated: “The number one priority has to be bringing in another striker.Cardiff City, Vincent Tan sent clear striker message ahead of January

“There are certainly a number of places on the pitch that need to be improved, including another defensive midfielder to give Alex Robertson more freedom to move forward. You might argue for another attacking midfielder to challenge Ruben Colwill, who has recently underperformed, and we could use another winger, if not two.

“There is a lot of work to be done, but getting a striker in is the most crucial thing. “We are suffering in front of goal once again, which is not surprising given that we only bought one striker for the season, with Roko Simic going out on loan right away. That man was Wilfried Kanga, who, sadly, has been a complete catastrophe as a signing. He has yet to open his account and hasn’t had a look at Omer Riza, but when he came off the bench, he provided nothing. We’ve had a number of strikers in the past who haven’t scored many goals but have always contributed something, whether it’s pace in behind or a physical or aerial presence. He isn’t bringing any of it to the table, and he is a bit-part player, so it is fairly evident.  He will be recalled by Hertha Berlin.”Callum Robinson is currently heading the line, and while he has been pretty prolific, his goals have also dried up recently. His fitness issues have been well documented, and he is out of contract at the end of the season, so it is unclear whether he will continue.Beneath them (Robinson and Kanga) are Isaak Davies and Kion Etete, who have both been sidelined this season due to pre-season injuries. Davies, in particular, was expected to play a significant role but, through no fault of his own, has not had the opportunity to establish himself.

“We are extremely understaffed, and our present alternatives, with the exception of Robinson and probably Davies, lack quality.

“Although there are more basic difficulties with the team’s setup and a lack of imagination, we need the right type of striker who can create his own opportunities.

“Given how many attackers are out of contract this summer, you’d want it to be a permanent signing. We need to get it done, and it will probably determine which league we play in next season.”

Cardiff needs to find form immediately.
