Huddersfield Town manager Darren Moore has thanked Sheffield Wednesday fans for the kind welcome he received upon his return to Hillsborough.
The former Owls manager returned to S6 for the first time since that fatal night against Peterborough United in last season’s play-off semifinal, and he was greeted warmly when he took to the field ahead of the game.
Moore became a popular figure in Sheffield, and his departure over the summer came as a surprise to many, but when he was appointed Huddersfield manager just a couple of weeks before they returned to his former haunts, it was a day many marked on the calendar.
But, for the guy himself, he now believes it’s time to move on, and he wanted to express how much the response from the home audience meant to him.
“I’m thankful to them all for giving that warm reception, it’s really, really nice, and I get the opportunity to say thank you to them all here,” the Owls manager told the media. This game is over, so we can move on, but I want to thank everyone and wish them well for the rest of the season.”
The game itself ended 0-0 in South Yorkshire as both clubs kept a much-needed clean sheet, but neither side showed enough quality going forward to win the game.
The international break brings two weeks of training, but the Owls have a more serious issue to deal with: selecting a new manager.
