BREAKING NEWS : Georgia Receives Major Coaching Staff Update Today

The Georgia Bulldogs are two weeks out from their season-ending loss to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals. Kirby Smart, the head coach, has already shifted his attention to next season, working to finalize his roster and coaching staff.

On Tuesday, whispers began to circulate concerning offensive coordinator Mike Bobo. Former Bulldogs quarterback Buck Belue revealed on “The Buck Belue Show” that Bobo was set to step down due to health difficulties. “I’ve been working some sources close to the program, and what I’m hearing is that Mike Bobo will be stepping down next week, will resign,” Belue informed me. “Mike is now battling with some health concerns. You may have heard of this autoimmune. He is battling with an illness. Walking is tough for him due to nerve damage in his arm and feet. This whipped Georgia fans into a frenzy. Several hours later, Radi Nabulsi of UGASports.com took to X to clarify Bobo “has no plans” to quit. “Contrary to the rumors spreading all over social media, Mike Bobo has no plans to step down as the University of Georgia offensive coordinator,” according to Nabulsi. It’s also worth mentioning that on Thursday night, Rusty Mansell of DawgsHQ reported Bobo to be “on the road and recruiting” Texas commit Dia Bell. Bell came to X to reveal that he had received an offer from Georgia, and tagged Bobo in the post.Georgia Receives Major Coaching Staff Update on Friday - Athlon Sports

With Bobo continuing in Athens, Smart will not have to select a new offensive coordinator before the 2025 season.

Given Georgia’s offensive troubles in 2024, many supporters are hesitant to welcome Bobo back. The Bulldogs finished 10th in the SEC in yards per game (405.4) and sixth in points per game (31.6), a significant decline from 2023, when they were second in both categories.

“Well, this is disappointing.” “He needs to move on, or Georgia should fire him,” one fan commented.”More mediocre football awaits us then,” another commented.

“Welp, another year of no national championships,” another added.

“Most depressing news I’ve heard today,” one person added.

“Dang. “I was hoping we’d have a chance to win another Natty,” remarked one admirer. Even if Bobo pondered leaving Georgia, the decision would not be easy for him. He was the Bulldogs’ quarterback from 1993 to 1997 and has subsequently served on the coaching staff in three different capacities, including graduate assistant, quarterbacks coach, offensive coordinator, and offensive analyst.
