Phil Hay anticipates a change in the ownership status of Elland Road once new documents are submitted to Companies House by Leeds United and 49ers Enterprises. Currently, on record, Elland Road is still registered under the previous owner, Andrea Radrizzani, as disclosed in documents shared by Kieran Maguire on Twitter on October 10th. However, it is expected that 49ers Enterprises will assume ownership of the stadium.
Hay mentioned that he foresees a transfer of stadium ownership when the new paperwork is filed with Companies House, the government agency responsible for company ownership records.
This development marks another positive step forward. Since the 49ers took control of the club in the summer, they have made significant strides in securing the club’s future and its present situation. Transferring ownership of the stadium to the current ownership group will create a more stable and settled structure, as opposed to the previous arrangement where the 49ers essentially paid rent to Radrizzani. Notably, the lease, which is in effect until 2032, revealed that Elland Road Ltd (formerly under Radrizzani but now under the 49ers) charged Leeds United £1.7 million annually in rent.
The acquisition of the stadium is a significant advancement for the club, especially considering concerns about Radrizzani’s control, given his earlier offer to use Elland Road as collateral for a £26 million loan when he purchased Serie A club Sampdoria in the summer.
In the end, fans can now be reassured that they will no longer have the previous owner, with 49ers Enterprises eventually assuming full control of the club’s assets. In other Leeds United news, there is a player whose impressive performances this season have gone somewhat unnoticed.
