This weekend, Wolves will play Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League. Paul Merson has already predicted the game’s score.
The painful 2-1 loss to Sheffield United last weekend, which resulted in a penalty being awarded to the Blades, is something that Wanderers are hoping to recover from. Oliver Norwood had the opportunity to give Sheffield United their first win of the season after Fabio Silva’s “foul” on George Baldock, and he made no errors from the penalty spot.
After the game, Gary O’Neil expressed his displeasure once more but also urged his team to do better.
On Saturday, Wolves will play Spurs at Molineux, and it may be a difficult match.
Paul Merson forecasts the match between Wolves and Tottenham Hotspur.
On Monday, Spurs suffered their first Premier League defeat of the season against Chelsea.
They went down to nine men, which allowed Chelsea to apply a lot of pressure in the second-half. Spurs played a very high line which was bold but, ultimately, foolish.
Chelsea won 2-1, and Spurs finished the game having lost four players. As well as red cards for Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie, there were injuries for James Maddison and Micky van de Ven. There is a chance Maddison could yet play, but Wolves are definitely coming up against a depleted side.
It is for that reason that Merson is actually predicting Wolves to win this game.
Predicting a 2-1 Wolves victory, he said (Sportskeeda): “This one is a very interesting game. I’ll be shocked if Tottenham, with their injuries and suspensions, beat Wolves on Saturday. I was looking at Spurs’ situation and they have some bad injuries.
“Micky van de Ven is out and they’ve got Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie who are set to miss a couple of weeks due to suspension.
“James Maddison is going to be out too and Richarlison is set to undergo surgery. Ange Postecoglou will be fielding a makeshift backline and they are not going to be the same side that got off to a flying start to the season due to their injuries.”
Wolves can beat Tottenham
It is a very good time for Wolves to play Tottenham.
Spurs have a lot of key players out and Ange Postecoglu will probably be scratching his head right now as to who to play and how to set up.
The most recent terrible decision to go against them has left the Wolves players feeling quite resentful. In interviews following the game, a number of celebrities, including Max Kilman and Nelson Semedo, expressed their annoyance.
Maybe this, along with all the other poor decisions, will inspire a stellar performance.
Spurs are genuinely open for grabs. particularly if Postecoglu takes a high stance once more. It’s possible that players like Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-chan will have field days.
