AC Milan legend Ambrosini questions Milan’s decision to loan out potential star

AC Milan’s decision to loan out Lorenzo Colombo to Monza in the final days of the summer transfer window has been questioned by Rossoneri legend Massimo Ambrosini. The young striker has had a positive start at Monza, scoring three goals in ten games, prompting Ambrosini to express doubts about the wisdom of the decision.

During the closing days of the summer transfer window, Milan was reportedly in talks with Porto over Mehdi Taremi. Initially delaying Colombo’s departure, the club eventually agreed to send him to Monza. However, when negotiations for Taremi fell through, Milan had to settle for Luka Jovic.

In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, Ambrosini shared his thoughts on the outcome. He raised questions about the decision, particularly in light of Colombo’s impressive performances at Monza. Ambrosini mentioned that while Taremi would have been the ideal center-forward, and Jonathan David is an interesting profile, the club should consider whether Colombo could have been useful in the current context.

Jovic, who was brought in as an alternative, has yet to score for Milan. This has put extra pressure on Olivier Giroud, who has had to shoulder a heavier workload. Ambrosini suggested that a hungry and young striker like Colombo might have been a suitable option, especially considering the available playing time and the need for rotation in the squad.
