Sunderland have joined a whole host of clubs from the Championship in the race to sign potential star with 14 Goal Contributions

Sunderland has reportedly entered the race to sign Peterborough United attacker Kwame Poku in the upcoming January transfer window. The Ghana international has had an outstanding season, contributing seven goals and seven assists in all competitions, making him a sought-after talent.

Poku’s performances have been a crucial factor in Peterborough’s success this season, with 12 of his goal contributions coming in the league. He stands out as one of the top goal contributors in League One, making him an attractive prospect for clubs in higher divisions.

Sunderland, along with Ipswich Town, is said to be interested in securing Poku’s services in January. Other Championship clubs, including Millwall, West Bromwich Albion, Bristol City, and Stoke City, are also reportedly keen on signing the talented forward.

Football Transfers has estimated Poku’s value between £700k to £1.1 million. However, with eighteen months remaining on his current contract at Peterborough, the club could command a higher transfer fee for the 22-year-old.

As clubs look to strengthen their squads for the second half of the season, Poku emerges as an appealing option for promotion-chasing Championship teams. Sunderland, in particular, may see him as a potential replacement for Amad Diallo’s goal-scoring contributions from the previous season.

Given Poku’s skill and versatility, it is not surprising that he is attracting interest from higher divisions, and a move to the Championship in January could be a possibility for the promising midfielder.
