Leeds united star reveals how Sam Allardyce ripped him apart before Leeds United exit

Patrick Bamford has shared insights into his experience under Sam Allardyce during the former’s time as the manager of Leeds United last season. Speaking on the BBC’s My Mate’s A Footballer podcast, Bamford revealed that Allardyce was blunt and critical upon his arrival at Elland Road, immediately pointing out the team’s defensive shortcomings.

Bamford recounted how Allardyce expressed disappointment with the team’s defensive performance, emphasizing the need for improvement. Specifically, after a 2-1 defeat to Manchester City in May, Allardyce approached Bamford, telling him never to play in that manner again for him.

Bamford acknowledged the direct and no-nonsense communication style of Allardyce, stating that the manager made it clear that the team needed to address their defensive issues. Despite Allardyce’s attempts to instill a tough-love approach, Leeds United had a disappointing season, finishing five points away from safety in the Premier League.
