“Fine margins” – Super Eagles star Iwobi points out what Fulham need to do after tough Liverpool loss

Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has expressed the need for Fulham to transition from strong performances to victories following their closely contested 4-3 defeat against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, according to reports from Soccernet.ng.

Iwobi and fellow Nigerian Calvin Bassey were featured in Fulham’s starting lineup, contributing to an impressive first-half performance that saw the teams level at 2-2. Despite taking the lead with just ten minutes remaining, Fulham succumbed to two quick Liverpool goals, resulting in a narrow away defeat.

Despite the commendation for Fulham’s noteworthy performance as the first team this season to score more than one goal at Anfield, the loss marked their fifth in the last eight league games. Notably, Marco Silva’s squad has managed to keep the margin within two goals in all of these defeats.

Iwobi acknowledged that Fulham hasn’t been completely outplayed by opponents this season but emphasized the importance of translating draws and losses into victories. In his statement to The Athletic, Iwobi highlighted the significance of achieving results to climb the league table, recognizing that good performances alone are insufficient.

The midfielder commented on the remarkable goals in the match, praising his team’s character and fighting spirit. However, he lamented the missed opportunity to secure points despite the valiant effort.

After completing 14 rounds of matches, Fulham currently occupies the 14th position in the Premier League, having won four games and suffered seven defeats.
