Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill breaks NFL record vs. Commanders with latest

Miami Dolphins All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill is on a historic pace to become the first player in NFL history to achieve 2,000 receiving yards in a single season. Hill made this bold vow back in August, and his performance thus far has supported the ambitious claim.

Entering Week 13, Hill has amassed the most receiving yards over the first 11 games of a season in the Super Bowl era, with a total of 1,324 yards. This puts him on track to surpass Calvin Johnson’s single-season receiving yards record of 1,964, with Hill projected to reach 2,046 yards.

In a recent game against the Washington Commanders, Hill continued his exceptional performance by breaking an NFL record. He recorded 157 receiving yards and two touchdown receptions, securing his fifth game with over 150 receiving yards and at least one touchdown in the 2023 season. This achievement sets a new single-season record in NFL history.

The previous record was held by a five-way tie that included Hall of Famers Lance Alworth and Don Maynard, each with four such games in a season. Hill’s remarkable feat has now surpassed this mark with five games left in the 2023 season.

In addition to the NFL record, Hill also made history within the Miami Dolphins’ organization. With eight games of over 100 yards in the current season, he has tied the Dolphins’ single-season record set by Mark Duper in 1986. With five games remaining, Hill has a chance to claim sole possession of this record.

If Hill continues his record-breaking performance and reaches or exceeds 2,000 receiving yards by the end of the season, he could potentially cement his legacy and find himself in consideration for a future induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame alongside greats like Alworth and Maynard.
