Sunderland has initiated discussions regarding a contract extension for full-back Niall Huggins, according to a report from iNews. The versatile defender joined Sunderland from Leeds United in the summer of 2021 and has overcome challenges to secure a spot in Tony Mowbray’s side.
Having experienced difficult seasons with injuries, the 22-year-old Welshman has remained fit this season, making 15 Championship appearances for the Black Cats. Although he is currently contracted until the summer of 2025, Sunderland is reportedly considering a new contract for Huggins as a testament to his abilities and a reward for his recent contributions to the team.
