Burnley is now attempting to sign another outstanding forward before the free agency transfer deadline.

According to rumors, Everton and Burnley are also interested in signing free agency Jesse Lingard, although West Ham is his most likely destination.

The 30-year-old has been without a club since the end of last season, after a dismal season with Nottingham Forest.

Lingard has spent the last few weeks training at West Ham. However, David Moyes has yet to offer him a contract, thus he remains a free agent for the time being.

Lingard has already made one appearance for West Ham, having spent the second part of the 2020-21 season on loan at the London Stadium.

Under Moyes, he put in some strong performances, scoring nine goals and assisting five times in 16 games to help the London team qualify for the Europa League.

The Hammers attempted to sign Lingard on a permanent basis that summer, but he elected to stay at Manchester United.

When his contract with the Red Devils expired last summer, Moyes’ squad was connected with him once more. Lingard eventually decided to turn down their offers and join Forest instead.

West Ham now have the opportunity to sign him again and may make an offer, but Everton and Burnley want to derail their plans.

Everton and Burnley are both ‘interested’ in Lingard.
Everton and Burnley have both’shown an interest’ in signing Lingard, according to 90Min.

The Toffees have signed five new players this summer (three on loan), but their roster is still lacking in imagination. Lingard can do that in spades on his day, so it’s no surprise that Sean Dyche is interested in him.

As for Burnley, they need all the Premier League experience they can get if they are to avoid relegation this term. Lingard has years of PL experience under his belt and has won four major trophies during his career, so could be a smart addition for the Clarets.

The report claims that Lingard has interest from abroad, too. He has allegedly ‘received offers’ from Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and MLS.

However, 90Min state that if the former Man Utd man opts to remain in England, it will be West Ham that he joins, not Everton or Burnley. That is assuming, of course, that the Hammers do offer him a deal.

With that in mind, West Ham remain the favourites to sign Lingard, despite there being plenty of competition from other clubs.
