Preston North End red card apology received as Ryan Lowe shares

Preston North End manager Ryan Lowe expressed his belief that Queens Park Rangers’ Lyndon Dykes should have received a red card in their recent match. Dykes was shown a yellow card after his arm struck PNE defender Andrew Hughes during an aerial duel. While Sky Sports pundits considered the challenge “dangerous,” the referee only issued a yellow card.

Lowe, not seeking excuses for his team’s loss, pointed out that Dykes had previously caused injury to another player. He mentioned an incident from the previous year when Dykes allegedly gave Liam Lindsay six stitches in the back of the head. Despite believing it was a sending-off offense, Lowe acknowledged that his team was not at their best during the match, which they lost 0-2.

In the context of recent contentious decisions against Preston, including a headbutt by Cardiff City’s Jamilu Collins that went unpunished, Lowe mentioned that a panel had acknowledged their grievances in the Collins incident. He expects a similar response regarding the Dykes incident but emphasized that, regardless of officiating decisions, his team needs to perform at higher levels.
