While Shearer acknowledged liking Livramento during his time at Southampton, he admitted underestimating the full-back’s abilities until he witnessed his performances in a Newcastle shirt. Shearer commended Livramento’s “huge potential” and highlighted his remarkable recovery from a serious knee injury.
Lineker joined in the praise, emphasizing Livramento’s talent, speed, power, and versatility. He suggested that England manager Gareth Southgate should reach out to the young player, considering his eligibility to represent England, Scotland, and Portugal. Lineker noted Livramento’s ability to play on both flanks and envisioned him as a valuable asset for the national team in the future.
Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, Lineker expressed, “He looks a very, very talented young player. Incredibly quick, powerful, great engine up and down the line there.” He emphasized Livramento’s availability to play for multiple nations and urged Southgate to consider him for future selections.
