Charlton receive boost ahead of Port Vale, as potential star return from injury

Charlton manager Michael Appleton is optimistic about Alfie May’s availability for the upcoming match against Port Vale this weekend. May, the team’s leading goal scorer, was absent in the recent 2-1 loss to Oxford United due to a back problem. Appleton expressed disappointment at May’s absence and mentioned that the player had been dealing with the issue since the Bristol game. However, Appleton is hopeful that with a clear week of rest, May might be ready to return to the pitch for the upcoming match.

The Charlton boss also provided updates on other key players. Miles Leaburn is expected to miss the rest of the season due to a significant hamstring injury. Chuks Aneke, who has been sidelined since late October with a hamstring problem, is anticipated to make a return towards the end of January, although Appleton emphasized the lack of a definitive timeline from the medical team.
