West Brom could sign dream Moore alternative who scored 17 goals last season
West Bromwich Albion is aiming to secure their first Championship victory of the year against Blackburn Rovers this Saturday, with Daryl Dike potentially leading the line after his impressive performance in the FA Cup win over Aldershot Town.
Dike, who scored a goal in the 4-1 win, showcased his fitness and form after a nine-month absence. However, considering the need to manage his minutes carefully, West Brom is exploring options in the January transfer window to bolster their attacking prowess.
While previously linked with Kieffer Moore, a highly sought-after striker, West Brom might shift their focus to Fenerbahce’s Umut Nayir, as indicated by posts on social media from Sports Digitale and football journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu. This potential move could provide an alternative to the ongoing competition for Moore’s signature, with Leeds United, Birmingham City, Cardiff City, and Middlesbrough also expressing interest.

Despite potential interest from Cardiff City in Nayir, West Brom sees the 6-foot-3 striker as a viable alternative to Moore. Nayir boasts an impressive goal-scoring record, having netted 17 goals in 31 appearances for Ãœmraniyespor in the Süper Lig last season. Despite a slow start at Fenerbahce this campaign, Nayir’s prolific career total of 117 goals suggests he could be a valuable addition to West Brom’s attacking lineup.
Comparing Nayir to Moore, the Turkish striker has consistently proven himself on home soil, while Moore, despite being recognized as a proven Championship scorer, has fewer goals (47) from more appearances (155). West Brom’s potential pursuit of Nayir represents a bold move, diversifying their options and potentially reaping the rewards of Nayir’s goal-scoring prowess.
Regardless of the chosen striker, West Brom recognizes the need for additional firepower in the squad, especially with concerns over Dike’s injury proneness, Josh Maja’s absence due to a serious injury, and uncertainties surrounding Brandon Thomas-Asante’s goal-scoring consistency. Nayir, if acquired, could emerge as a talismanic figure capable of propelling West Brom up the league standings and establishing them as contenders in the promotion race.
