CJ Stroud’s outstanding rookie season came to an end as the Houston Texans lost to the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday, but the quarterback received some encouraging words after the game.
Lamar Jackson and the Ravens blew off Houston in the second half, winning 34-10 at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland. Jackson and Stroud spoke briefly on the field afterward, and Stroud implored the soon-to-be MVP to “go win it all, bro.” Jackson responded by assuring Stroud that this is “just the beginning for you.”
Stroud soon earned the respect of his peers by accomplishing one of the most difficult tasks an NFL quarterback can face: winning and leading a team to the playoffs as a rookie. The former Ohio State star then dominated his first
career postseason game, going 16/21 for 247 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions in a 45-14 victory over the Cleveland Browns in the Wild Card Round.
The results versus Baltimore weren’t nearly as good (19/33 for 175 yards), but Stroud has a lot to build on moving ahead. It was fantastic to see Jackson acknowledge this.
