Barcelona are apparently interested in recruiting a key player from Newcastle United to replace Robert Lewandowski. Barcelona is said to be interested in signing Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak. According to Fichajes, Isak is being considered as a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski at the Camp Nou.
Isak scored 10 goals in his first season in England after joining from Real Sociedad for £63 million, and he scored twice against Aston Villa on opening day to get his season started. However, the Swedish international has not scored since that game, with Callum Wilson scoring the Magpies’ past two league goals.
According to the article, while Barcelona is interested in signing Isak, any transfer for the 23-year-old will most likely take place next summer, with United unlikely to lose him during the winter window. Lewandowski, the player Isak is expected to replace at the Camp Nou, has three goals and three assists this season, helping Barcelona to second position in La Liga behind only rival Real Madrid. Madrid finished the weekend on top of the table after defeating Isak’s previous club Real Sociedad 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu. Despite establishing an early lead, Los Blancos’ two goals in the second half flipped the game on its head.
Federico Valverde equalized shortly after halftime, but former Magpies striker Joselu put his team ahead on the hour mark. That was the Spaniard’s second goal for Real Madrid this season, following his loan move from Espanyol in the summer.
