Ollie Turton, a Huddersfield defender, has been ruled out for “a number of months” following knee surgery.
The 31-year-old has resumed training after sustaining a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament against Wigan in February 2023.
However, he was forced to leave 45 minutes into his first game back with the B Team last week and has since undergone surgery on his knee meniscus.
“I’m absolutely gutted for Ollie,” manager Darren Moore told the club’s website.
“Recovering after a long-term injury is difficult, and experiencing a setback like this is never easy.
“We all witnessed firsthand how much effort he was putting in to recover fitness. We were looking forward to him rejoining our group.”
Huddersfield Town presently sits 21st in the table, three points above the relegation zone.
