Wolves’ loan bid for Chelsea attacker Armando Broja has been denied.
Gary O’Neil is eager to recruit a striker this month, but Wolves’ budgetary constraints mean they are primarily looking for loan deals.
The club has had an interest in Broja since January and has now had a loan bid rejected.
Chelsea is thought to want to include an obligation to buy Broja at the end of the loan deal, which would likely cost more than £30 million, with some sources claiming they want £50 million for the 22-year-old.
These figures are now pricing Wolves out of a move for the striker, with the club preferring to sign him on a straight loan with no commitment to buy owing to budgetary constraints.
As things stand, a deal to transfer Broja to Wolves seems improbable unless Chelsea is ready to lower their valuation of the player or agree to loan him with no obligation to buy.
Broja had a significant knee injury last season and returned to the field in September. He has two goals in 19 appearances for Chelsea this season, the majority of which have come as a substitute.
