JUST IN: Newcastle United’s potential important players had a separate training session ahead of their match against AC Milan.

Callum Wilson of Newcastle United trained separately on Monday ahead of tomorrow night’s Champions League match against AC Milan (kick-off 5:45pm).

Eddie Howe’s team practiced this morning at their Benton base before heading to Italy. The Magpies’ head coach will have a press conference this evening at 7 p.m. local time at the San Siro. And Howe will almost certainly be questioned about Wilson after Sky Sports News reporter Keith Downie disclosed that the England international “trained separately from the main group” and performed some “light running” instead. Despite some reservations expressed on social media, Wilson is scheduled to participate. The 31-year-old’s workload is carefully regulated after suffering two ACL injuries under Howe at Bournemouth.

He started and scored in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Bournemouth, snapping a three-game losing streak, but Howe is expected to recall Alexander Isak, who led the line in the first four Premier League games.
