Leeds United captain Liam Cooper responded to Joe Rodon’s outstanding performance against Millwall with four words.
Rodon was steady at the back as Leeds kept a clean sheet in a well-earned 3-0 Championship victory over their bitter rivals.
Rodon posted an image on Instagram following the game on Sunday [17 September] with the caption: “Incredible support today and important 3 points onto the next!” Cooper, his defensive partner, responded, “Love it joey boy!”
Keep up the good work.
Cooper has been out with an injury for Leeds, but Rodon has more than filled the void by assisting Leeds to consecutive clean sheets.
The Tottenham loanee is already a fan favorite, as evidenced by the other responses to his social media post.
Leeds will very certainly hope to get Rodon on a permanent basis at the conclusion of the season, but it has recently been revealed that Spurs value him at more than £10 million [Phil Hay, 15 September].
All the Wales international can do is keep performing at his best, and we’ll see what happens at the conclusion of the season.
Rodon is steadily proving that he is too excellent for Championship level after winning a game-high nine aerial duels against Millwall – nobody else achieved more than six [WhoScored].
If those performances result in Leeds being promoted and Rodon returning to Spurs as a first-team player, everyone concerned will be happy.
In unrelated Leeds United news, Daniel Farke praised Rodon as a “warrior” following the victory at The Den.
