Burnley receive boost ahead of Man UTD today as Erik ten Hag confirm 4 key players on injury

Erik ten Hag has provided a team news update before of today’s game against Burnley.

Manchester United Football Club is looking for a win this weekend. Burnley will not be a simple challenge for the Red Devils, especially given how Erik ten Hag’s team is currently playing.

I’d say the season’s start has been uncommonly sloppy. At times, the defense has been a jumble, and the midfield has been far too easily bypassed.

Injuries have obviously not helped in that regard, though Ten Hag is keen to ensure that the absence of players does not become an excuse.

Ahead of the game later, Ten Hag has offered an injury update on four. It seems as though Harry Maguire is the closest to returning, though Raphael Varane, Sofyan Amrabat and Mason Mount are all back in training. Check out the full injury update from the boss here:

“Maybe, as you say, Harry Maguire,” replied Ten Hag, per ManUtd.com. “We will see better after training [on Friday afternoon]. But Varane will train and we will see. Amrabat, he will train and we will see. Mount, as well, but they all didn’t play for a short or longer term.

“Varane, obviously, was the shortest [time] out.”

As I try to read between the lines, I feel like Maguire could be back among the subs, while Varane could find himself in the matchday squad.

I’d also guess that this one comes a little too soon for both Mount and Amrabat, which means Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, and Bruno Fernandes will have to start over.

The good news is that the manager appears to be reintroducing several players into the first-team fold. It’s critical to have depth heading into the hectic part of the season.

Personally, I’m very interested to see how Amrabat does, as there is a lot of hope surrounding the Moroccan.
