What Eddie Howe said to his players ahead of Sheffield united match

Newcastle United play their second game in five days, traveling to Sheffield from Milan. Newcastle United have done little training ahead of their Premier League match at Sheffield United this afternoon in order to handle their hectic schedule.

After resuming their winning ways against Brentford at St James’ Park last Saturday, the Magpies traveled to AC Milan in midweek, where they earned a point in their Champions League Group F opening. Head coach Eddie Howe has decided not to “train fully” before the trip to Bramall Lane due to their physical exertions in Italy.

“The players were in yesterday [Thursday],” Howe explained. I wouldn’t say we trained because we most likely can’t right now. That would be a disadvantage if you took more from the players. Obviously, some did, but the ones who initiated the game did not.

“We won’t probably train fully before the game.” We will train, but not at our maximum capacity.”

following flying back from Milan following the game, Howe’s side returned in England in the early hours of Wednesday. However, the Magpies’ head coach has downplayed the importance of European football. “I don’t think it’s been dramatically different,” Howe said of his pre-season preparations for Sheffield United. “Of course, the travel has, but in terms of how we’ve prepared, there’s definitely been a bit more delegation in terms of my staff.” I don’t think anything has changed in that regard.
