The Reds defender has missed the last three selections, which has left some fans perplexed.

Nottingham Forest player Neco Williams has posted on Instagram, claiming that he has been hurt recently. The Reds defender has missed the last three selections, which has left some fans perplexed.

Last season, Williams was a regular in Steve Cooper’s matchday squad. In the summer of 2022, the head coach signed him from Liverpool for £17 million, and he appeared in 36 games across all competitions.
During the international break, the young performer appeared twice for Wales’ national team. He was left out of two squads since then, and he also missed the win versus Chelsea.

It would appear that the reason for his absence at the moment has been down to injury issues. He’s posted a wordless post on Instagram that seems to suggest he’s not fit.

This will need to be confirmed but it seems as though the Wales performer has picked up a niggle. He’s posted on Instagram a snap of him in the gym at the training ground with two egg timer emojis.

Those kinds of posts tend to suggest that a player will be back soon. As a result, perhaps it’s not quite as simple as Williams has been dropped and he will hope to find his way back soon.

The Reds player will hope to force his way back into contention once he has shaken off his latest problem. However, after a number of signings this summer, that won’t come easy.

Will Williams be an integral performer at Forest?
Steve Cooper is a huge fan of Williams but he has spoken about having more athleticism within his squad. As a result, it’s hard to see the Wales international holding down a place in the team.

One advantage he has is that he can play any full-back position for the team. That may be enough to earn him a spot on the bench, but starting could be difficult.

In the summer, Forest signed Gonzalo Montiel, Ola Aina, and Nuno Tavares. As a result, Williams appears to be fourth in line for a spot right now, and he may be fighting for playing time this season.
