Huddersfield Town defender Michal Helik and Jonathan Hogg reflect on Darren Moore taking over as manager of the Championship team after Neil Warnock stepped down. Huddersfield Town have had a busy week of transition. Following the Terriers’ exciting draw with Stoke City, club veterans Neil Warnock and Ronnie Jepson stepped down.
Darren Moore was named the Potters’ new manager less than 24 hours after the game. Moore was then revealed to the media last Friday during a news conference. Moore took command of Town for the first time at Coventry City after two days of practice with the players. He was pleased with the team’s attitude and battling spirit as the Terriers rallied from a goal down to claim a share of the championship.
“It’s been tough,” said skipper Jonathan Hogg of the managerial changes. It’s been quite challenging
“The locker room adored Neil [Warnock].” Darren has stepped in and done an outstanding job in his short time here. We worked with him on the grass for a few days.
“There’s a lot more to come and a lot more improvement but the second half showed when we were on the front foot that we are a lot better side.”
“We keep going,” the midfielder continued. We never stop. I believe the mindset in the locker room has always been the same.
“We knew if we kept going and digging in, we’d get something out of the game.”
“We will go to any side in this league and give them a game.”
Helik admits that Warnock’s departure surprised the squad. “The change of the gaffer came at a time when maybe we, as players, didn’t expect it to be fair,” he explained. But we’re getting there. We are doing our duties to the best of our abilities.
“The new gaffer has arrived. Neil Warnock was a terrific friend of ours. We hold a high regard for him.
“However, a new gaffer has been appointed, and we will do everything in our power to ensure that he achieves the desired results.” We are excited to collaborate with him.”
