Tristan Nydam believes that Ipswich Town will be able to contend for promotion if they can overcome adversity and maintain their outstanding form in the next weeks and months.
Ipswich Town are flying high in the Championship, sitting second in the table with 21 points from eight games.
The Tractor Boys also advanced to the fourth round of the EFL Cup after defeating Wolves 3-2 at Portman Road on Tuesday.
Ipswich have enjoyed a fantastic start to the season, according to Nydam, and McKenna’s team has exceeded his expectations.
The former Blues great also stated that if Ipswich can overcome their rough patches and continue their good run, the Tractor Boys will be promoted to the Premier League.
“It’s been a fantastic start to the season,” Nydam stated on BBC Radio Suffolk.
“I figured they’d finish in the top half and maybe make the playoffs.”
“However, at this point in time, it appears that they are on their way to promotion.”
“Obviously, teams falter and have rough patches.
“But as long as they can come through those bad patches and keep the run they have going, I think they will do extremely well this year.”
Ipswich Town will play Huddersfield Town on Saturday before hosting Hull City on Tuesday.
