Burnley key player has been called up for international duty following his return to full health.

Darko Churlinov of Burnley has been called up for international duty after regaining full health. After being hospitalized for probable blood poisoning, the winger has not played in a competitive game in six months.

North Macedonia’s manager disclosed in early June that the winger, 23, had been transported to a hospital in Belgrade after developing probable blood poisoning.

Churlinov was then found to have been flown back to the UK to be treated at a Manchester clinic.

Burnley manager Vincent Kompany confirmed at the end of August that Churlinov had fought his way back to full health.

“It’s really, really positive,” he stated.

“We expected him to be out for a long time, but his recovery has been nothing short of miraculous.”

“I can’t give you a time yet, but if it keeps evolving as it is now he’s going to come back to full fitness.”Hopefully, by the time you ask the same question again next month, I’ll have changed my mind.”

Churlinov has since returned to training and played for the club’s Under-21 side last weekend.

He cannot, however, play for Burnley’s first team because he was not named to the club’s official 25-man Premier League squad.

Churlinov, who has been called up to the North Macedonian squad, might make his first competitive appearance for his country since April.

“I am delighted that he is ready to join the national team,” stated the country’s head coach, Blagoja Milevski.

During the forthcoming international break, North Macedonia will face Ukraine and Armenia as part of England’s Euro 2024 qualification group.

In November, they will welcome Gareth Southgate’s men.
