Leeds United’s young midfielder, Archie Gray, was reportedly “involved in an incident” while representing England Under-19s. Journalist Joe Donnohue shared the details of an altercation between Gray and Montenegro U19s player Stefan Dukanovic. Gray played the full 90 minutes in a match that ended in a 0-0 draw, with the most significant incident occurring early in the second half.
Despite being just 17 years old, Gray displayed his willingness to stand up for himself during this international fixture. Fortunately, he emerged from the match without any injuries. England U19s still have two more games to play before returning to club action, with one of those matches against Wales, including a player named Charlie Crew.
While it’s exciting to see young players represent their country, there is always a concern about the risk of injuries. Gray also faces the potential risk of being overused at his age, as he has started in 11 of Leeds’ 13 games this season and appeared as a substitute in the other two. He has accumulated 830 minutes of Championship action, ranking among the top four players in terms of time on the field for Leeds this season.
Leeds United’s manager, Daniel Farke, will likely closely monitor the progress of this highly talented young player in the coming week.
