According to reports from Sky Germany, Union Berlin is considering the possibility of securing the services of Burnley’s goalkeeper, Arijanet Muric, on a loan deal during the upcoming winter transfer window.
Currently, Muric finds himself in the second position in Burnley’s goalkeeping hierarchy, with the summer acquisition James Trafford taking the primary spot. It’s worth noting that Muric played a significant role in Burnley’s successful promotion campaign last season.
Union Berlin’s interest in Muric revolves around the potential for a loan arrangement, possibly with an option to buy. The specific role Muric would assume in the team remains uncertain at this point. It is conceivable that he could be brought in to provide competition for Frederik Rønnow, who has faced challenges in the opening two months of the current season. Additionally, Union’s backup goalkeeper, Alexander Schwolow, has shown signs of being below the Bundesliga standard for several years.
Union Berlin’s season has gotten off to a rocky start, with a seven-game winless streak across all competitions. They suffered last-minute losses in both of their Champions League matches and currently find themselves in 13th place in the Bundesliga after a 4-2 defeat to Borussia Dortmund just before the international break.
