Nottingham Forest handed injury worry ahead of Luton clash

Nottingham Forest faces a potential setback as full-back Gonzalo Montiel was forced off the field after just half an hour during Argentina’s World Cup qualifier against Peru. This injury concern looms over the upcoming Premier League match against Luton Town this weekend.

Montiel, a 26-year-old player, was among several Forest players engaged in international duty for the past two weeks, representing the Argentina national team. While he remained on the bench during their 1-0 victory against Paraguay on Friday, he was given an opportunity to start in the World Cup qualifier against Peru on Tuesday. However, his participation was short-lived, as he had to be substituted just after the 30-minute mark, reportedly due to an injury that was evident as he left the field.

This development is causing apprehension for Steve Cooper and his team as they prepare to face Luton Town at the City Ground this weekend. Montiel, who joined the club during the summer, has made four appearances and even replaced the injured Serge Aurier during a previous match against Crystal Palace.

Compounding the situation, there are concerns about the availability of Ola Aina, potentially leaving Forest with a shortage of right-back options for the Luton game. As a result, Neco Williams may be the only fit choice, although he has not played since the Carabao Cup defeat against Burnley in August, where he featured as a left-back. Williams is currently away on international duty with the Welsh national team, having played the full 90 minutes in their recent 2-1 victory over Croatia in the Euros qualifiers.
