Sheffield Wednesday has successfully secured the loan signing of goalkeeper James Beadle from Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion. The 19-year-old goalkeeper spent the first half of the current season on loan with League One side Oxford United, where he established himself as a crucial member of the team.
Beginning his career with Charlton Athletic, Beadle made the switch to Brighton & Hove Albion in September 2022. He gained valuable experience during a loan spell at Crewe Alexandra in January 2023, impressing with notable performances in senior football.
In July of the same year, Beadle moved to Oxford United, where he enjoyed an uninterrupted run as the first-choice goalkeeper from August to January. The talented shot-stopper has represented England at various youth levels, from the Under-15s to the Under-20s, and has also received call-ups to the Three Lions’ Under-21 squad. He was part of the England squad that participated in the Under-20 World Cup in Argentina last summer.
Beadle’s loan move to Sheffield Wednesday reunites him with his former goalkeeper coach at Brighton, Sal Bibbo, who recently joined the coaching staff at Wednesday. The young goalkeeper will wear the number 26 shirt during his time at Hillsborough.
